DESERT FESTIVAL OF JAISALMER
Why Desert Festival of Jaisalmer?
The Jaisalmer Desert Festival is an annual event that take place in February month in the beautiful city Jaisalmer. Maru Mahotsav Jaisalmer It is held in the Hindu month of Magh (February), three days prior to the full moon.
The festival commences with a procession in the morning from the Jaisalmer Fort to the Shahid Poonam Singh Stadium. The locals dress in traditional and bright costumes. They sing and dance depicting the tragedies and accomplishments of the desert. The Gair and the fire dance are highlights of the festival.
Folk Performances
Banjara fire dancers are another troupe adding to the WOW factor of the festival. You can also spot snake charmers, puppeteers and jugglers straight out of a Disney movie! As one of the major tourist events in the state, the Desert festival showcases the very best of Rajasthani’s folk music and dance.

Day 01: Delhi
Upon your arrival at Delhi International Airport, you will receive a warm welcome from our representative, who will assist you with a guided transfer to your hotel. After completing the check-in formalities, you are free to spend the remainder of the day at your leisure. (Please note that the standard check-in time is 2:00 PM; early check-in is subject to availability.)
Delhi, a city rich in history, has seen various political and cultural transformations over the years. It beautifully merges modern lifestyles with ancient traditions, creating a unique cultural tapestry. In Old Delhi, you will find a vibrant atmosphere that preserves age-old customs, while New Delhi showcases a modern flair influenced by contemporary trends. Day 02: Delhi - Jaisalmer
After enjoying breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour of Delhi. Your first stop will be the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan. Next, visit the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that showcases the grandeur of Mughal architecture. Continue to Raj Ghat, the serene cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi, before heading to India Gate, a majestic 42-meter stone arch that honors Indian soldiers who lost their lives in World War II.
As you drive past the President’s House and Parliament House, take in the grandeur of these iconic buildings. Your tour will also include visits to Humayun’s Tomb, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the impressive Qutab Minar, and the stunning Lotus Temple, known for its flower-like shape.
In the evening, you will be transferred to the railway station to board train #4059 DLI JSM Express, departing Delhi at 6:00 PM for Jaisalmer. Overnight will be spent on the train as you journey towards the Golden City of Jaisalmer.
Day 03: Jaisalmer

You will arrive in Jaisalmer at 1:00 PM, where our representative will greet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. After checking in, take some time to relax and refresh.
In the afternoon, embark on a drive outside the city to visit Amar Sagar Lake, a tranquil spot surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Following this, head to Sunset Point, where you'll be treated to stunning views of the city as the sun sets, casting a warm glow over the golden sandstone structures.
In the evening, enjoy a memorable experience riding camels at Sam Dunes, where you can immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the desert landscape. After a day filled with exploration and adventure, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 04: Jaisalmer

Today is dedicated to immersing yourself in the vibrant Desert Fair. This lively festival showcases the rich cultural heritage of the region, featuring captivating performances by snake charmers, puppeteers, acrobats, and folk artists.
As you explore the fairgrounds, you'll find an array of stalls offering exquisite handicrafts, including beautifully embroidered skirts, hand-woven shawls, rugs, and intricately carved wooden and stone items. Don’t miss the chance to browse through camel decorations, embroidered leather bags, ethnic silver jewelry, and terracotta artifacts.
As evening approaches, prepare for the highlight of the festival—a mesmerizing sound and light show that unfolds against the backdrop of the stunning sand dunes, illuminated by the moonlight. The atmosphere becomes electric as the audience gathers for the main shows of music and dance, which continue late into the night. On the final night, the fair is particularly lively, with crowds eager to witness this spectacular celebration under the full moon.
After a day filled with excitement and cultural experiences, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 05: Jaisalmer Fair

As you wander through the fair, enjoy various activities, from traditional games to culinary delights. Take the time to interact with the performers and fellow festival-goers, immersing yourself in the unique desert culture.
In the evening, return to your hotel after an exciting day at the fair. Reflect on the rich experiences and performances while enjoying a restful overnight stay in Jaisalmer.
Day 06: Jaisalmer - Jodhpur

After enjoying breakfast, check out from your hotel and prepare for your journey to Jodhpur. The drive offers scenic views of the arid landscape, rich in Rajasthani culture.
Upon arrival in Jodhpur, check into your hotel and take some time to relax and unwind after the journey. In the evening, you will board your train for the next leg of your adventure. Overnight travel allows you to rest as you continue your exploration of India.
Day 07: Jodhpur

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a full-day city tour of Jodhpur, famously known as the "Blue City." Your first stop is the Mehrangarh Fort, an imposing structure that offers stunning panoramic views of the city and showcases intricate architecture and history.
Next, visit the Mahamandir Temple, renowned for its 84 intricately carved pillars and beautiful frescoes. Afterward, take a leisurely stroll around Kailana Lake, where you can enjoy the serene surroundings and perhaps even a peaceful boat ride.
The rest of the day is free for leisure, allowing you to explore local markets, savor traditional Rajasthani cuisine, or simply relax at your hotel. Overnight stay at your hotel in Jodhpur.
Day 08: Jodhpur - Ranakpur - Udaipur
Begin your day with breakfast before setting off on a scenic drive to Udaipur, covering a distance of approximately 259 kilometers (around 6 hours). On your way, make a stop at the magnificent Ranakpur Temples, renowned for their exquisite architecture and intricate carvings. The Jain Temples here feature grand structures and boast 1,444 unique pillars, each distinct from the others, making it a remarkable sight.
After your visit, continue your journey to Udaipur. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel and unwind. In the evening, enjoy a memorable boat ride on Lake Pichola (subject to water levels), where you can take in the breathtaking views of the city and its palaces reflected on the water. Overnight stay in Udaipur.
Day 09: Udaipur - Delhi - Onward Destination.

After enjoying breakfast, embark on a city tour of Udaipur. Begin by visiting the City Palace, a stunning architectural marvel that offers panoramic views of the city. Continue to Jagdish Temple, known for its intricate carvings and vibrant atmosphere. Drive around the serene Fateh Sagar Lake, and take a stroll through Sahelion Ki Bari, a beautiful garden designed for the royal ladies and their companions. Don’t miss the Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandir, a folk art museum showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan.
In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, connect to your international flight for your onward destination. .
