Mantalai is a very beautiful place with breathtaking views and a serene lake at an altitude of 13,440 feet. The highest mountains around this place make for the most ideal shots in nature photography. It is a tough climb through Odi Thach on the Mantalai trek. At an elevation of 12,600 feet, Wichkurung Thatch is a beautiful ground for cattle grazing. Beautiful meadows with flowers bloom brightly on one side, and soothing landscapes with horizon-sweeping visions on the other end allow the sunset to be properly witnessed.
Day 09:Wichkurung Thatch - Mudh - Kaza
-
Trek to Mudh and Kaza:
We start off our day by descending through 5 km of hard terrain down to Mudh. On our way, we witness important tombstones that lend a lot to the antique feel of the region. We shall take some quality time off in Mudh, interact with the wildlife, and then depart for Kaza driving upwards. Mudh is a beautiful village, situated in a national park that is very rich in biodiversity. We'll stay overnight in a hotel or homestay or pitch tents depending on our bookings in the evening and might get lucky with spotting a wide range of species such as the elusive Ibex, Blue Sheep, Tibetan Gazelle, Tibetan Wolf, Snowy Hare, and Woolly Hare. Historically, Mudh was the only oasis in the Spiti desert, and it supplied food for animals as well as humans passing through. Along the way, you could sight yaks and bharals grazing amicably in the breathtaking landscapes.
Day 10: Kaza - Manali
-
Journey from Kaza to Manali:
From Kaza to Manali is an all-scenic trip for today covering about 9 to 10 hours. In this journey, we should cross the Kunzum and the Rohtang Pass and enjoy the spectacular scenery around us. This trip epitomizes a transition from the sparsely inhabited Spiti to the lush green Manali.
