Shri Ram Lala Janmbhoomi

According to Skandpuran, when Vaivasvata Manu (proginetor) asked Lord Brahma to build a city for himself, he (Lord Brahma) took him to Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu suggested him a suitable place in Saketdham.

Lord Vishnu sent Devshilpi Vishwakarma ji along with Lord Brahma and Manu to establish this city. Apart from this, Maharishi Vashisht was also sent with them to find a suitable place for his Ramavatar. It is believed that Maharishi Vashisht ji selected the Leelabhoomi on the banks of river Saryu, where Devshilpi Vishwakarma ji built the city.

According to Skandpuran, Ayodhya is seated on the wheel (chakra) of Lord Vishnu. Ayodhya has been described as the city of God in the Ved with ‘Ashtchakra, Navadwar, Devanand Puryodhya’ and its opulence has been compared to heaven. According to Jainism, five of the twenty-four Tirthankaras were born here in Ayodhya. Apart from this, according to both Jain and Vedic beliefs, Lord Ram was born on this land. All the said Tirthankaras and Lord Ram were from the Ikshvaku dynasty. Its importance lies in its ancient history because this city has been the capital of the famous and majestic Kshatriyas (Suryavanshi) of India.
