WORLD SACRED SPIRIT FESTIVAL
Why Sacred Spirit Festival Tour?
Sufi music has always been a bridge between the East and West, promoting some of the most liberal and accessible aspects of Islam for centuries. Spiritual and passionate, enchanting and exciting, blissful and exotic, Sufi music is unlike any other. Sufi forms can feel extremely varied and distinct, particularly to newcomers, while others may be surprised to discover that the Indian Qawwali has been traditionally linked to the Turkish dervishes. Sufism truly goes beyond religion. It lets you rise above temples, mosques and churches and allows you to connect on a spiritual level with your creator. It aids you on your quest towards self-realization and enlightenment and is best experienced in the form of fantastical dance, music, and poetry.
The World Sacred Spirit Festival, a stage for some of the greatest artists from all over the planet to enthral their audience, is considered to rank at the very top of Sufi festivals. The 2020 edition of this world-famous tradition shall be held in Nagaur and Jodhpur, in the royal settings of Nagaur Fort and Mehrangarh Fort, thereby making the event even more special.
The previous editions of this extraordinary festival have attracted Sufi artists from all over the world and also witnessed massive crowds. By bringing world-class Sufi stars such as Jaswant Thada, Nawab Khan, Chaar Yaar, Madan Gopal Singh and Druk Yul Trio under the same roof, the event ensured that aficionados from across the world were left enthralled, speechless and captivated by one soul-shaking performance after the other.
Come February, the prestigious Forts of Nagaur and Jodhpur will open their doors again for the most extraordinary and sacred tradition across the world. Illuminated by thousands of blazing candles, the sinfully spiritual acts and performances shall transport you into a bygone era, allowing your spirit to wander across time, bringing about a newfound purpose to your life.
The Blue City of Jodhpur is soon going to host the much-awaited World Sacred Spirit Festival. A music event, the festival would be on for four days, from February 13 to February 16, 2020. This festival is an initiative by the Mehrangarh Museum Trust and aims to promote soulful music than transcends all boundaries of culture, community, and creeds.
A wonderful initiative, this 4-day event would train the spotlights on primarily Sufi and Spiritual music. More than 200 artists would be gracing the event this year, coming together from 10 countries. It is expected that more than 3000 enthusiasts would be visiting the festival this year.
The festival this year would be graced by some of the most impressive names of the music industry, including Rakesh Chaurasia, Duo Bud, Ghulam Mohd Shah, Fana, Ustad Bahauddin Bagar, Kanishk Seth, Walid Ben Selim, Kavita Seth, Nourou Salam, Danish Hussain Budayuni, Manganiyar Children and more.
This musical extravaganza would be held at the equally extravagant Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur. The event timings and venues are different for the festival.

Day 01: Jodhpur
Arrive into Jodhpur, where you will be met by our car and driver. Right in the heart of Rajasthan, Jodhpur was the capital of the former Marwar kingdom and is a city with a rich and colourful history. Check in to your hotel, freshen up and head out to explore the massive Mehrangarh Fort that looms over the town. This is one of India’s largest and best-maintained forts and is full of curious artifacts, opulent royal costumes and antique weaponry. Adjacent to the fort is another monument, the Jaswant Thada, a royal cenotaph constructed entirely in white marble. Jodhpur’s also a great place for shopping! Tell us what you’re in the mood for and we’ll make some recommendations. Return to your hotel for the night. You also have another option – a trip to Salawas village to see traditional weavers making some excellent cotton durries (rugs and mats). They’re very pretty, machine washable and wear very well. Round off the trip with a visit to the village potter to see him at work. This is a fun way to spend half the day. (You could also do this the next morning, before you head out to Nagaur).
Day 02: Jodhpur - Nagaur
Have breakfast at your hotel and check out. Your driver will meet you at your hotel. You have the chance to see some more of the city this morning- you could go into the old city and explore the area around the clock tower. You could have lunch at the Gypsy Restaurant if you want to try a really good Rajasthani thali or check out On the Rocks or Darikhana which offer great Indian and International cuisine. After lunch, drive 2 & 1/2 hours southwest to Nagaur. You will be staying within the fort here, either at the Ranvas- beautifully restored havelis, built as a residence for the maharajah’s queens or in the elegant Royal Tents (with bathrooms attached). Relax and take in the tranquility of your surroundings. The festival kicks off at 7:00 pm, with performances running late into the night.

Or if you're not quite ready to end this journey just yet, well, Rajasthan is something of a specialty of ours and we have a number of fabulous places for you to explore across the state. Options nearby include the desert town of Jaisalmer and the picturesque Khimsar Fort, an oasis of luxury in the desert. Both are great places to savour the experiences of the last few days. You could also go tracking leopards at Jawai or head to some of the other lesser known places like Chanoudgarh, Sardargarh or Castle Bijaipur… Rajasthan has much to offer! Note: The Nagaur leg of the Sufi festival is a pretty exclusive affair, open only to the guests staying within the fort Accommodation is limited and increasingly sought-after, so do be sure to book as early as you can
